Definitely like the idea of the reversible quilt. This way you could make more tops (which is the part most quilters like) and you could do spring/summer colors on one side and fall/winter on the other so it could be on the bed the whole year. Great idea for kids as well! And they would be thrilled at the idea of having two different quilts :D

Yes, I would certainly do that as long as it is going to the long-armer and not doing it myself because I am a straight line quilter and that would definitely make the differences show up. I have done backings using up materials from front before but never patterns. Do you know what the front of that quilt is called??

WOW! I have soon much Kaffee Fassett fabric I could easily do 2 quilts- more blended styles than the above example, but what fun to do a "spring" color on one side and a more fall/winter on the other- like you say, just flip! cool idea

I love this idea, but typically don't do it because it takes twice as long! And I get a bit anal about having the quilting match the quilt -- if the back is different they won't line up. Gotta get over that!

Yes, I made a black quilt with charcoal grey and a little white on it for my husband, then backed it with a white quilt with two rows of black/white pinwheels. It is therefore reversible and is titled “ It don’t matter if it’s black or white”!

I've been doing that for years! I don't like solid backs (they look boring to me) and that way folks get 2 quilts from me at the same time. But it hasn't busted my stash at all. I have had to be brutal and get rid of things (donated) on purpose.
