I love to quilt, but I also love wool applique and hand embroidery. But, outside the sewing aspect of my life, I have had the opportunity to re-introduce myself to music. When we lived in East Tennessee, the church we attended had a chime choir. I can't sing, but, learning to play the chimes was so much fun and we had a great group of gals that were in the choir. Our funds and the music room didn't allow for us to purchase actual bells. Now that my grandchildren are old enough to play piano, I have decide that by relearning the piano, I can also help them with their music. I only play for my enjoyment and if anything relearning to read music again has been good for my mind. I have also discovered the local library and have enjoyed being able to read a variety of books without having to buy them. My husband thinks it great because he doesn't have to move boxes of books anymore.

My takeaway from Anna’s post and these responses is that the key to a life well-lived is that we find things we love to do and make time to do them. How blessed are all of us who have discovered pursuits that make our hearts sing! We may only get to devote a bit of time each day or week to our passions, but it’s essential that we make that time for ourselves. Let the joy of doing be the reward. There’s no law that says we have to finish what we start. Enjoy the process instead.

Anna, I love hand embroidery and have made it my mission to include these little gems into my quilts. I always have two projects going at a time. At night I embroidery a project for our home or special love one. Down in my quilting room I have finished blocks that I will include in a quilt. Now I am doing an auction quilt for niece's school. Love all your products and blog.

I too feel like a jack of all quilts and master of none! I just want to do it all. I do enjoy embroidery whether a piece or part of quilt blocks. I enjoy knitting when I can get to it. I just want to do too much and there are not enough hours in the day or days in the week, LOL! Over the years I have tried many crafts. Now that I'm older and life gets in the way I have had to cut back. I do get irritated if I cannot spend a few days a week in my sewing room.

I also love cross-stitch and embroidery and heirloom sewing. But in the past few years I have ventured into Genealogy research, piecing together my past. Amazingly, they are similar past times to me as they provide me with the "thrill of the hunt", some quiet cerebral time, seeing the development of a family line extend and broaden. They are both solitary experiences. And most importantly, I guess, is both allow me to leave something of value behind for my family.

Anna, No one will ever accuse you of being bored. I love how nicely you frame your embridery and cross stitch work. Quilting and watercolor fill my spare time. Like you, I love my pressure cooker...I have two. Cooking is fun to me and I love experimenting with spices. As long as we fill our days with creativity we are fun to be around. I enjoy how you love to teach what you are passionate about....lucky us!!!

Anna, mostly my time is spent quilting. I have done mostly piecing, but just ventured into hand appliqué and machine appliqué machine quilting is left to explore. My husband and I lived on a boat a few years back and I discovered needlepoint and cross stitch. I’m disabled now and after a friend showed me quilting it changed my life. Now I also dabble in cooking and following blogs! Thank you Anna!

Sewing and quilting has been my main passion for the last 25 years, it just seems in all parts of my life they have allowed me to create things I need, and can't afford, allowed me to express my creative, allowed me the peace and joy I feel when all of a sudden several hours have gone by, and I have created something special. Before sewing/quilting consumed me, I loved any and all type of needlework, knitting & crochet. I'm so happy that sewing & quilting is becoming such an amazing hobby, with the machines, fabric, notions & tools, who would have ever knew it could become the coolest hobby ever!https://th equiltshow.com/ components/com_ jcomments/image s/smilies//lol. gif

Our local quilt shop in Hood River, OR is closing. So that means I have to order on line, go to Fabric Depot or a trip to Sisters! I try to get to Sisters once a year. I am trying to get settled into a new house, retired a year ago and raising 2 of my teenage Grandkids. My husband is supportive of my hobbies but of course thinks I don’t need anymore fabric! I live to embroider, quilt, piece and have done some wool work. I wish there were more hours in a day! Seems like I just get started on something and I have to stop to fix a meal. I really don’t like cooking, I would rather sew or stitch but everyone around here wants/needs to eat! I believe Variety is the Spice of life, do what you Love!

I generally say I'm a crafter. I love so many of the different arts within and I enjoy them for different reasons. I quilt, knit, crochet, embroider, weave, and sew. There are more skills I want to pick up like hooked rugs, spinning and dying, thrown pottery, and macrame. Thankfully, that means I'll never reach the end of creativity. So many ways to express yourself, so little time.

In order to re-organize my sewing/craft/co mputer room, the decision had to be made as to which crafts I would no longer participate. Out went all oil painting supplies, also 100 or so spools of rayon threads and lots more. I have kept watercolor supplies, some card making elements and all sewing projects and supplies.Of course, the computer remains! I don't think sewing and crafts other than piecing and quilting are limiting, but do give us a break from the quilting arena. One cannot take a large quilt to the doctor or dentist's office, but a small embroidery project can have stitches added while waiting. There are so many WIP!!
