There is to be a new Bayeux Style tapestry, with an East Anglian story, presently being produced at Norwich Castle in the UK. By 2002 the Castle Keep will be restored to what it was when first built 900 years ago, as a Royal Palace. I am currently overseeing 50 plus volunteers who will be working very hard over the next two and a half years to sew a 15 metre long tapestry, as well as other textiles, which will hang in the Banqueting Chamber and other areas. This website tells the tale with the help of Stephen Fry. http://www.edp24.co.uk/going-out/stephen-fry-lends-support-to-norwich-castle-transformation-in-new-short-film-1-5390014

My husband and I also got to visit Bayeux last summer and saw the tapestry. It’s amazing and displayed in a very distinct manner considering its length. It is well labeled and the audio guides are very helpful.

This will be amazing. That tapestry is huge; I've seen it. Moving it will be a monumental challenge, never mind setting it up to display in England.

I too have visited Bayeux and the tapestry. The idea of taking that work of art down, shipping and then setting it back up again boggles the mind. The workmanship is stunning, and the story well told.

I have seen this tapestry in Bayeux and it is amazing! Great steps have been made to preserve it. It is my hope that if it does travel to England, that every measure possible will be taken to ensure its preservation. I totally understand the concern of the residents of Bayeux. I also understand the joy and anticipation of the English. It is a remarkable work of art.

I have visited Bayeux and the tapestry. The way it is displayed adds to the exhibit because there are explanatory sections under the real tapestry so the visitor can understand what is happening. I had read about the tapestry in French class and was eager to see it when we were nearby.
