Thanks for for providing the information about the grain line of cotton fabric. My question is -how do you get fabric on grain? I used to sew apparel, and we had to have the grain correct for all of our patterns, and now that I'm sewing quilts, I would like to have the grain line straight for all of my cutting for quilts. But even when I purchase fabric from a shop where the owner tears the fabric, so I know that the weft grain is perfect, the fabric still doesn't lie flat when you match it at the selvages and so I have to scooch it over. So how do you get that fabric back on grain? I've been told to wash it, and I've been told to stretch it on the bias, and I have still not found a way that will get the fabric back in grain . Thank you very much for your answer.
