Elaine Adair and other vendors, as I understand this did not happen AT the festival. Their trailer was stolen from a hotel parking lot where they were staying. The hotel as I understood it was not even in the same block as the Festival, therefore there is nothing the Festival could possibly do except help them after the fact as everyone who could has done so. No affiliation, but I was an attendee.

Sadly, it's happening more and more as people travel and stay in hotels/motels. What do we do? For one thing don't buy anything that you think might be stolen, If it seems too good to be true, report it to your local police. Maybe opt for renting a motorhome with the space to carry a "motorcycle." Those would have ample room to carry supplies and also provide sleeping quarters so you are right there to prevent any theft.

Just a thought, we're any of the customers quilts covered by their personal insurance - should have been. Did the have a 100% inventory on everything - copy with them and copy at home - for insurance and coverage purposes?

Does Jamie have a physical store front, or insurance on a home that includes his business? May cover some of the contents of the trailer. I know they sometimes cover things stolen from a vehicle..not sure on a trailer...but since it was kept at his home/business.. .worth looking at. Marge

I can only imagine that the thieves are ignorant of the true value of these magnificent quilts. If he is aware then the buyer would know that they are stolen. Lets pray that whomever sees these works of art contacts Jamie and Rich. Have photos of the quilts been posted anywhere? Bless you for your gentle spirits and faith that good will come from this experience

I can't imagine how irritating the entire experience has been for you - if I was a vendor, I certainly would never visit Houston Festival. Certainly, better security should be a priority! I'm so sorry you suffered this enormous loss.

Unfortunately, this doesn't help Jamie and Rich, but is a huge wake up call for everyone else who travels to a big quilt show with a trailer full of their work and supplies. Make sure you have the correct kind of insurance to cover what you have along.

Words will never be able to express the amount of thanks and love we feel for the quilting community. You all surrounded us so much love, faith and courage at a time when we had very little. As we move forward we look to so many more years of living, laughing, loving and supporting the community that is our family.
