Hi Jean: I'm a big fan of drawer stacks from IKEA but the nearest store to Santa Fe is too far away. I found these Winsome Halifax cabinets on Amazon so they were delivered to my door. They are comparable to the IKEA ones but available in slightly different dimensions. These were a good height for the ironing surface. I'm really happy with them but be advised, they are heavy and they need to be assembled  The board itself is OSB board (cut to desired size at Home Depot) that I covered in a layer of cotton quilt batting and some canvas fabric. A small 'lip' is attached on the bottom of the board to keep it from sliding around on the drawer stacks. Inside the drawers I'm storing lots of stuff: starch, funnel to fill the iron, press cloths etc. Also stuff for nearby work stations...stro ng pins for the design wall & T pins for blocking. Rulers & templates for machine quilting. One can never have too many drawers, right?

Hi Marcia: Thanks for complimenting the quilts. It was nice to have enough wall space to hang some of them. The floors are gray. They are not really hardwood OR laminate, they're some kind of engineered hardwood that could be refinished once or twice if they need it. I don't have the brand name available right now. They are tongue and groove boards that nest together over a thin plastic base layer like laminate floors do. So far, they have been easy to keep clean with just a swifter.

I love your BIG ironing board. I would like to know more about the shelves that you have underneath the ironing board. Are these custom built or where did you purchase them from? They look so handy and provide great "legs" for the ironing board. Thanks in advance for your reply.

Lucyj: the cabinet with the sewing machine in it? It had me at 'hello'. ;-) It's the SATURN 2 cabinet by Fashion Sewing Cabinets of America in Utah. Since it's 3/4 of a circle, it won't sit against a wall. It is good for sewing but for quilting at a domestic sit down, I prefer the largest table surface to be at the quilter's left (to hold the weight of the quilt sandwich) and to the back of the table. Because this won't push against a wall or into a corner, the weight of a large quilt sandwich would fall off the back side and create drag on the quilt. This company makes a variety of cabinets with drop leaves & automatic lifts that would be better for quilting. Many have rounded shapes which I love (and which mean you won't bash your hip on a corner when zooming past the table). FSCOA may not do retail...I purchased the cabinet from Nuttall's Sewing Center in Sandy Utah. It was delivered to Santa Fe.

Sandy: I use a big table not only for cutting but for blocking quilts. This is made from the bases of two matching sofa tables that I found at a furniture consignment shop. (There are great ones in Santa Fe.) These were black & had 2 shelves underneath. They are 36" high. I had the guys paint them gray to match the flooring & woodwork in the studio. We attached the two bases together & put casters underneath so I can easily move the table away from the wall for access all around when I'm blocking. This is also helpful when there are other quilters working in the studio with me. The full length storage underneath the table is great. I use IKEA baskets & can even store a roll of batting there. The contractor made a 4 x 8 foot top from the same melamine we used on the desk top. It's not hard to make. A handy person could either repurpose table legs as I did or build a sturdy frame from scratch. I'd advise locking, industrial strength casters
