I have my basic sewing supplies in one of the larger, sturdy fishing tackle boxes. It sits on my sewing table when home, then securely latches to carry to any sewing class or event. The trays inside can be custom set to your notions. This box has traveled to 30 years of 4-H sewing classes, now to quilt classes. It contains all sizes scissors, rotary cutters, rippers, markers, needles, snaps, hooks, eyes, seam gauges, any odd notions needed once in a while can be found in my sewing box.

Just be careful with the rolling Stanley toolboxes, I had one and the perfect height to sit on for "just a bit" when you aren't going to be long. They do/can/will tip over, I experienced this with a trip to the emergency room for a broken wrist. No fun!

Thank you for this! Since I don't go to sewing or quilting retreats, I still found these tips extremely helpful for my sewing room: in other words, always have your sewing machine in good shape, have the right machine needles and prepare bobbins beforehand; have a project ready to sew by starching and ironing beforehand, and have fabric cut and ready to go. In this way, anytime I go into my sewing room, it will feel just like a retreat and my sewing projects will go so much faster. Wow, I've got to do this! Love this!!!

Ihave 3 of the rolling Stanley tool boxes. One for sewing/quilting , one for my Silhouette/pape r and one for vinyl cutting with the Silhouette. Both my Silhouette and my Brother Scan N Cut have their own travel cases. I have duplacates of my basic tools, and only have to pack speciality items such as pens and markers, which are already in snap cases. I can have a full sewing room or craft room set up in minutes! Love some of these ideas.
