I do none of the above, just make it up as I go along, I find I am inundated enough as it is with stuff, the thought of keeping notebooks, journals, folders, makes me breathless, perhaps that’s why I am not a great artist, but I an ok with that, as long as I am having fun and people like my work.

I just asked my husband to parallel park across from a wall near El Mercado in San Antonio so I could take a picture of the pattern just crying out to be a quilt block. Am also amassing a photo collection of manhole covers....don't know what I am going to do with them yet but given enough time, it will come to me!

For inspiration, in addition to many sketch books, I maintain a "photo morgue", file drawers having many folders containing articles, photos, color swatches and lots of miscellany that can be referred to should I need to refresh my memory of a subject, a color scheme I liked or other ideas that caught my attention. Note: most photos are copyrighted and are not, cannot be duplicated without permission. I also rely upon my camera and smart phone to capture ideas to be used with sketchbook entries for designing new works. I strongly believe in developing and using drawing skills as the foundation to define the requirements before cutting fabric for any new effort. Best wishes in creating your methods. See my TQS Episode #1612
