(continued from previous post) Today, we still have Ricky and Alex teaching in some segments….but we don’t mention that in the guest names on the show...which make those shows 'appear' to be only one guest....but all shows have at least two guests. Bottom line….the main guests are getting the exact same time to teach what they prepare, as they were 7 years ago. It is our mission with TheQuiltShow.co m, that we provide a wide arrange of topics, techniques and guests…..both new and established for our viewers to learn from, be inspired by and to value this time-honored love of quilting together. We have no intention to take away any time from main featured guests nor their techniques that they show us. We sincerely appreciate your feedback as we are always seeking ways to tweak things and make sure we are delivering a top notch product. Please watch series 1800 and see for yourself. I feel this is a very good season we have rolling out.

(continued from previous post) We are not cutting back content time from any of the main guests. The shows featured in series 100-600 had even less teaching content with the main guests. I will take credit or your criticism for the fact that you are seeing more one segment field segments. What I LOVE about sharing these segments with you, is that you get a chance to meet a lot of newer quilters or more established quilters that perhaps we wouldn’t be able to feature as a main guest. Right now, on show 1801, our 4th segment is a tour of the Virginia Quilt Museum. This is a fabulous museum that we feel strongly that most quilters would want to know about. Most of these segments have a teaching component where the field segment guest teaches us a technique. In the past, when we weren’t doing these field segments, Ricky and Alex did more ‘teaching”…..or we had various segments with ‘gadget girl’ or ‘photo man.’

My name is Shelly Heesacker and I have been producing TheQuiltShow.co m since series 700. I want to assure you that the TQS show you are watching today, is much the same as what you were seeing 5-7 years ago. Just to give you some ‘behind the scenes’ insights…..we have 4 segments for each show. For most shows, that means that our main guest shows us some of their amazing quilts in one segment….and then the next two segments are spent teaching us 2 separate techniques. That means there is one segment left. Very few main guests want to be featured in that 4th segment….becaus e preparing to teach a 3rd technique is asking A LOT of most artists. What we usually do with that one segment is we either have Ricky or Alex teach something…..or we have a secondary guest (like a field segment….where our cameras travel outside of the studio to meet with a quilter in their home)….or a secondary guest in studio. This format has not changed since I began producing the shows in 2009.

Alex, I have followed and enjoyed your pleasant and charming interview style from the beginning of Simply Quilts. I have learned so much and fallen in love with quilting as a direct result. I love Ricky now, too and appreciate the differences in your styles. What I REALLY appreciate is that you don't rush your guests and cut them off but, rather encourage and often openly marvel at their work...must make them feel great. I do love the one guest format but love, love, love the shows no matter what you do. Accolades to you both and Bravo for a job always well done.
