What a beautiful quilt in the background! You do such wonderful work. I think you meant you have OCD - obsessive compulsive disorder - not ADD - attention deficit disorder. And the blade...OMGosh. .. Sorry Lynn, we other OCD'ers can't help ourselves. We laugh with you, not at you.

I agree with anne1. I had to do first aide on a cut done by a person when she was straightening fabric and sliced her finger on the open rotary cutter she had lain on the table by her work.. Not fun to stop the bleeding .I had a person wave an open rotary cutter just as I walked behind her and missed my face only because I jerked back. Last time i went to that quilting group because I had asked her to please close the cutter with each cut and she said she had never been cut and always left it open. I had closed the open cutter lying on the table and she reached over and opened it and laid it back on the table. Someone later on gave her a cutter that closed when you released the pressure on it Thankfully she used it!

Thx. for the explanation for figuring this out BUT from one whose rotary cutter jumped the ruler edge and before I even knew I cut myself it had run up side of finger (well back from the edge) and cut my finger well into the nail bed. Seven stitches later and lots of discomfort I became obsessive when using my cutter even tho I had been using them for over 30 years and never an injury. You will even see yourself placing your hand on top of the open blade.

Donna Lynn Thomas's Omnigrid On-Point Ruler makes easy work of the on point squares. No need to divide by 1.414. It is done for you !! However, It is still helpful to understand how to figure this out. Thanks for the info. Second the comment on the open blade !

Lynn, Please close you rotary cutter or use one that closes automatically. Your hands were so close to the open blade. Anne
